Ansaldo STS is an Italian transportation company that delivers signalling and automation equipment for metro networks and railway lines. Under CEO Andrew Barr, who took the reins in May 2016, the business has gone from strength to strength, in particular by working on its backlog and increasing revenues. Although achieving strong growth is never far from Barr’s mind, sustainability has also been a core tenet of the CEO’s leadership. Alongside broader corporate social responsibility initiatives, Barr is personally involved in the company’s Internal Sustainability Committee, which ensures Ansaldo’s adherence to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Carbon Disclosure Project.
